What this site collects

Compass AI is designed to collect the minimum amount of data needed to operate effectively. Here's exactly what we collect and why:

Analytics: PostHog

We use PostHog for behavioral analytics (page views, button clicks, scroll depth, form interactions). PostHog is configured in cookieless mode, which means no tracking cookies are set in your browser. Data is stored in memory only during your session and is not persistent across visits.

We also route PostHog through our own domain (a "reverse proxy") to reduce the impact of ad blockers on our analytics data. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog unless you submit a contact form.

Visual analytics: Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and session recordings. Clarity is configured in cookieless mode. Recordings do not capture form inputs, passwords, or sensitive fields. You can opt out of Clarity at any time via Microsoft's opt-out page.

Booking a call

When you book a call, we store the name, email, company, and any note you enter so we can create the meeting and send you a calendar invite. Google Calendar sends the invite; that means Google processes your email address as part of delivering it.

Your data is used only to respond to your inquiry. We do not sell, share, or use it for any other purpose. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@trycompassai.com.

Our own analytics, and the cookies it uses

We run our own analytics rather than relying only on third parties. It records which pages you viewed, which site or advert you arrived from, and whether you booked a call. It does not record what you type, where you move your mouse, or anything you do on other websites.

To do that we set two first-party cookies. Neither contains your name, email, or anything else that identifies you — they hold randomly generated identifiers and nothing more:

  • ca_vid — recognises this browser on a later visit, so a returning reader is not counted as a new person. Expires after 13 months.
  • ca_sid — groups the pages of a single visit together. Expires after 30 minutes of inactivity.

If you arrive from an advert or a marketing link, we also record the campaign details in the URL, including the click identifiers Google and Microsoft add to their own ad links (gclid and msclkid). We keep these so we can tell which adverts actually lead to conversations. They are stored in our own database and are never exposed publicly.

We also keep a copy of your first marketing source in your browser's local storage for up to 30 days, so that a visit today and a booking next week are credited to the same source.

GDPR & CCPA

We set the two first-party analytics cookies described above. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell personal data. Our analytics identifiers are random and hold no personal information. If you are located in the EU or California and wish to exercise your data rights (access, deletion, portability), please email hello@trycompassai.com — tell us roughly when you visited and we will remove the matching records.
